Dr Simone is a leading female plastic surgeon with a boutique practice based in the grounds of St Luke’s Private Hospital in Potts Point, Sydney.

Dr Simone is a fully qualified specialist plastic surgeon. She completed her plastic surgery training in Australia through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), the only recognised body to certify and train plastic surgeons in Australia.

Dr Simone focuses her practice on both non-surgical and surgical cosmetic procedures of the body and face, as well as reconstructive plastic surgical procedures, especially those involving fat grafting and skin cancer management.

Australian accredited specialist training combined with overseas fellowships

After completing plastic surgery training in Australia, Dr Simone Matousek two further undertook two post- training fellowships, one in breast surgery (Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons/Allergan Breast Fellowship) and the other dedicated to facial aesthetic surgery (Mentor International Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship, London).

She selected surgeons to visit internationally to gain the best possible experience in large volume fat grafting as training in this technique was not available in Australia during her specialist training. Since 2010 she has been able to offer liposuction and fat grafting and it is one of the most common procedures Dr Simone performs.

A commitment to research with a PhD degree in plastic surgery

Dr Simone is one of only a few plastic surgeons who has completed a Doctor of Philosophy or PhD, the highest academic degree a person can achieve.

Her original plastic surgery thesis focused on the fascial system and ligamentous anatomy of the breast and buttock. She discovered new anatomical structures that have been recognised internationally and are relevant to plastic surgery operations. This original research has been published in the peer-reviewed plastic surgery journal, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, PRS and continues to be cited  by other plastic surgeons worldwide.  

She has most recently presented her PhD research at Miami’s International Plastic Surgery conference (ISAPS) on liposuction and fat grafting in the buttock region. Her most recent publication is an expert opinion piece on breast anatomy in the July 2020 Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery issue.

Extensive expertise in large volume fat grafting

Dr Simone pioneered large volume fat grafting in Australia which she has been doing on a regular basis since 2010. 

Fat grafting can be used in cosmetic breast augmentation (fat grafting alone or in combination with breast implants), breast reconstruction post-cancer or congenital deformities such as tuberous breast, constricted breast or breast asymmetry. She was the first Australian female plastic surgeon to perform large volume fat grafting (breast augmentation with fat) in Sydney.

It is now an internationally recognised and accepted  alternative to breast implants for correcting congenital breast problems (asymmetry or abnormal development such as tuberous breast), soft tissue loss due to trauma, cancer or congenital deformities all over the body, as well as revision liposuction surgery or other revision surgeries where fat transfer could benefit.

For those requiring congenital breast reconstruction and breast cancer reconstruction and facial trauma, there is now a Medicare item number for these if they fulfil certain criteria.

Booking a plastic surgery consultation

If attending to discuss any cosmetic surgery, you will need a GP referral. Please arrange this well in advance of your appointment as it is required by law.
If attending for non-surgical reasons only, you will still need a full consultation for your first visit, however, will not need a referral. Once you have had a consulation, you can then book any non-surgical treatment.
Every patient coming for a treatment at the practice will be asked to complete a Body dysmorphia screening tool. It is worthwhile screening prior to booking, otherwise you may be unsuitable to undergo a procedure and a psychological or psychiatric evaluation may be advised.
