Your booked elective plastic day surgery can go ahead!
There are currently no restrictions to day plastic surgery procedures in NSW. Your surgery can proceed if you do not need an overnight stay.
This means a responsible adult must come and pick you up following your surgery and take you home.
You cannot go home from a day surgery case on your own.
Many of our cases are suitable for day surgery. Please enquire if you can qualify to be done as day surgery.
Only urgent cases can be admitted overnight to the hospital (ie skin cancer is about the only plastic surgery procedure that fits this criteria).
It is thought these restrictions will last until mid-February, however, the exact end date is unknown.
You will be called with an admission time one day before your surgery by the hospital.
COVID screening for patients having day surgery
You are required to get a PCR test a maximum of 72 hrs before your surgery.
Many of our patients have successfully gotten results back in time for their surgery.
You may also be asked to do a rapid antigen test on the day of surgery if your results are not through.
However, a PCR test is currently what is recommended and we ask you make the best efforts to get one. Unfortunately we have no special powers to get your test back faster or for your test prioritised so please do your best during these difficult times.
Your appointment at Dr Simone’s rooms
Please come alone to the rooms unless you are bringing a minor. Please understand no extra people are allowed in the rooms during this time.
Please bring a mask and wear it at all times. If you find it difficult to tolerate a mask, please discuss this with our rooms so we can appropriately isolate you.
Please do not attend the clinic or hospital if you have any COVID symptoms such as cough, runny nose, fever or feeling unwell or have had a confirmed or presumed exposure. If you are unsure stay home and reschedule.
If you are unvaccinated, please do a PCR test prior to coming or bring a rapid antigen test to be done in the rooms.
Where to wait for your appointment
There are plenty of seats available in different sections of Dr Simone’s rooms. Please remain in the area you are asked with a mask on until it is time for your appointment.
We are doing our best to maintain separation.
If the weather is good, you can wait outdoors in the garden area on Level 1 if you prefer not to be inside.
Once the hospital reopens on the 17th January (opposite Dr Simone’s rooms) you must go to the main hospital entrance and get a temperature check and a sticker to say you have been safely screened.
You can then proceed to see Dr Simone Matousek at the clinic (opposite the main hospital in Hemsley House, level 1).
If you need to reschedule or change your appointment
Due to a high volume of enquiries and staff in isolation, please make enquiries online where possible via our email [email protected] or our chat on the home page here.
All bookings are regularly updated here.
Due to the large number of people exposed to COVID at the moment, time slots can open up last minute and it is worth checking back. You need to refresh your browser to make sure you get the latest calendar.
Take care be patient and please understand we are doing our best to accommodate you at this time.
If anything changes, Dr Simone’s rooms will notify you as soon as we know.
If we haven’t been in touch, assume all is going ahead as planned or booked!
